TWS: Thinkin’ ‘Bout Ink – Han Solo #5 & Star Wars #25

Marvel Star WarsFirst of all, happy Thanksgiving to those that celebrate it, and happy comic book day (yesterday) to all! This week, we got two highly-anticipated ending issues:  The last of the “Last Flight of the Harbinger,” and the very last of the Han Solo series…I want to say I wasn’t disappointed, but that wouldn’t be entirely true…I was, however, surprised by how some things turned out, so that’s always fun…overall, they were pretty solid issues, though, so let’s forgo all further formalities of introduction and let the titillating comic discussion begin!

The Weekly Scoundrel Presents – Are We Being Kept in the Dark About Episode VIII? Or: What we don’t know won’t hurt us.

star_wars_episode_viiiBy this point in the Episode VII timeline, knew the title was The Force Awakens and were very close to getting a teaser trailer…so far for Episode VIII we know…nothing. Or, at best, very little. Sure, I understand that Episode VII was like the reintroduction of Star Wars to the world, and now we have Rogue One to keep us occupied, so it’s not really out of the question to be less-informed about the next chapter in the saga than we were previously…but that also doesn’t stop me from frothing at the mouth more and more with each passing day without any real, juicy Episode VIII information…so, are we being kept in the dark on purpose to keep the focus on Rogue One, or have they just not made Episode VIII a priority like they did with Episode VII because, frankly, they know they don’t have to? Well, either way, here are a few things I’m dying to get when it comes to the main saga from a galaxy far, far away…

TWS: Thinkin’ ‘Bout Ink – Poe Dameron #8 & The Force Awakens #6

Marvel Star WarsIt’s that time again! Well, actually a couple days after that time, but who’s counting? (Me, obviously…) Anyway, this week we get back into the meat and potatoes of the Poe series, which makes me exceedingly happy because it means Terex will be back in the mix, and I am overwhelmingly intrigued by that guy. We also got the finale of the comic book adaptation of The Force Awakens, which was another quick, action-packed read. I’m not sure, going forward, if I’ll bother with the comic adaptations of films, though…not because this one was bad, by any means, but just because it didn’t really add all that much (if anything) to the story and I’d rather use my comic budget for other things…but who knows, I’ll probably end up getting them because I have a fever, and the only prescription is more Star Wars! (I’m so lame.) Now, on with the show!

The Weekly Scoundrel Presents – The Real Star of Rogue One for Star Wars ComLINKS

With my recent busy-ness (not to be confused with business), I got out of the habit of writing something up for Mrs. @acrossthestars ComLINKS topic on her site, Anakin and His Angel, and that, my friends, is a shame. But! Lo and behold, here I am doing that very thing! This month’s topic is “Rogue One Newcomer,” meaning, “which NEW character are you the most excited to see on the big screen and why?” For me, this was an easy choice that took roughly 3.182 seconds to decide on:  K-2SO. But why, you ask? Why not the rough-around-the-edges Jyn Erso, the calm-cool-and-collected Cassian Andor, or the triumphantly-returning-Guerrilla-fighter Saw Gerrera? Well, how ’bout you read on and find out?

The Weekly Scoundrel Presents – Star Wars Comics Catch Up Extravaganza!

Marvel Star WarsOkay, so, yeah, I know, as far as being a “weekly” scoundrel, I’m failing mightily (though I’d argue that makes me a pretty spot-on scoundrel), but, just when I thought things were going to cool down and allow more time for writing, they decided to take it in another direction…such is life, I guess…anyway, I’m going to do my best to get back to normal from now on…or I’ll just change the name of my posts to the “occasional” scoundrel…either way, I’ll still be writing (hopefully) more often, so the posts you’ve been missing (or forgot about) will be back to fill your mind with a storm of electrical impulses and your heart with nearly unconditional Star Wars love…it’ll be great…and to start with, I’m going to catch up on the four Star Wars comics I haven’t had time to go over yet. They’re no Darth Vader #25, but there’s definitely some great Star Wars storytelling going on…
